Hall of Fame Announces Class of 2025

The Northport High School Athletic Hall of Fame is pleased to announce the Class of 2025, which will be inducted into the Hall of Fame on Saturday, September 27th at 10:00am in the Auditorium of Northport High School. The Class of 2025 consists of Ryan Campbell, Cortney Fortunato, Leah Kepping, Doug Trani, Christopher Tyson, Alan Vitters, The Tillman Family, Coach George Franck, and the 1990 Girls Soccer Team. The Induction Ceremony is free and open to the public.

 

Ryan Campbell – Class of 1997 A three-sport athlete, earning All-State honors in Track, and All-Long Island honors in Football. Ryan also was a member of the Boys Basketball squad.

Cortney Fortunato - Class of 2013 The former Senior Athlete of the Year in 2013, Cortney excelled in both Girls Soccer and Girls Lacrosse. Cortney is at the top of the scoring list in lacrosse, was named a high school lacrosse All-American three times, went on to become a four-time Division 1 All-American at Notre Dame, and was a member of Team USA.

Leah Kepping - Class of 2009 A two-sport athlete, Leah earned All-County honors in both Girls Basketball and Girls Tennis. Leah went on to Middlebury College, becoming a three-time All-American tennis player.

Doug Trani - Class of 1995 Doug was a standout Boys Basketball player, becoming the first Northport HS player to ever be named All-Long Island. A captain of the Long Island Championship team, he went on to have a standout career at NYU, where he earned All-Conference honors.

Christopher Tyson - Class of 1970 A two-sport athlete, Chris excelled at Boys Soccer and Boys Tennis. Upon graduation from Northport HS, Chris went on to a stellar soccer career, first collegiately at Cortland, and then in the professional ranks. He was a five-time All-Star and is in the Long Island Soccer Hall of Fame.

Alan Vitters - Class of 1964 Alan was a three-sport athlete at Northport HS, competing in Boys Basketball, Boys Soccer, and Boys Tennis – excelling in all sports. Alan was named to the Long Island Coaches All-Star Soccer team, received All-Huntington Township Basketball honors, and was the top tennis player at Northport. He continued his soccer prowess, starting for West Point for three years, including a 1966 NCAA Final 4 appearance. 

 

The Tillman Family Larry – Class of 1975 Michael – Class of 1979 Randy – Class of 1974 These three brothers dominated the Suffolk County wrestling mats while representing the Tigers for a decade. In addition, they were also standout athletes in several other sports during their time at Northport HS.

Coach George Franck The long-time head coach for the Tigers, Coach Franck earned over 300 victories while his teams qualified for the playoffs in 15 of those seasons, were League Champions eight times, made the Elite 8 round ten times, were Suffolk Final 4 participants seven times, and earned a Suffolk County Championship and a Long Island Championship.

1990 Girls Soccer Team The Lady Tigers earned a New York State Championship while capping an undefeated season.
